The
main attraction of the area is the large beach, with its fine sand and
lack of pollution. This is only really crowded in August and is almost
deserted for the rest of the year. The
beach runs the full length of Benajarafe, some two kilometres and is as
much as one hundred meters wide in places.

This
photograph taken from the centre of the beach shows the tranquillity
described. It was taken at noon on a weekday in July.

The
beach is maintained to a high level of cleanliness. Duckboard paths allow
easy access. Showers and foot
fountains are provided. Numerous litterbins are dotted along the sand.
Undoubtedly though, the outstanding feature of this beach is its natural,
unspoilt beauty and panoramic views.

This
year the children can safely enjoy the two new playgrounds which have been
built on the sand.

Arquillos development, in the centre of the village.
The
road running between the beach and the residential area is now mainly free
of though traffic and is used mainly for local access and by bathers.
