HOW TO GET THERE: Nerja is 60 km. East of Málaga. The new freeway allows you to get ther in just 45’.
You
can go to Málaga by plane (many daily international flights) or by train
From Málaga you can get to Nerja by bus (the bus station is next to the
railway station), THE TOWN: NERJA is a special place because, even if it is an internationally recognized tourist destination, it has not sufferd massive urbanization and keeps all its Andalusian flavour, with its fishing boats, the lively fried fish bars, white houses and street life, even in Winter. Its climate is privileged all year round, with mild Winters and fresh Summer nights. Apart from the sun and the beach, Nerja offers a lot to do: shopping in its street markets, sports (snorkel diving, paragliding, trekking, bicycle, jeep safaris, tennis, water skiing, horse riding, sailing, etc., and a golf course at 35’ distance), traditional events, both in Nerja and in Málaga and nearby villages (Easter pilgrimages, the ‘Feria’, etc.) and cultural events, like the famous Classical Music Festival which is held every Summer inside the beautiful prehistoric caves of Nerja, usually starring the soprano singer Montserrat Caballé. Nerja has all types of restaurants and bars, from the popular and lively fried fish bars, packed with locals, to luxury and world cuisine restaurants. Other interesting places to visit are, of course, the prehistoric Caves, pintoresque whitewashed villages like Frigiliana, Málaga, with its beautiful botanic gardens and all the shops, restuarants and facilities of a big city, and Granada (100 km). And the skiing slopes of Sierra Nevada are just two hours away: you can ski in the morning and sunbath on the beach in the afternoon! Finally, Nerja offers also Flamenco schools (dance and guitar) and Spanish language courses, both in class and one-to-one. |
